STOCKTON, Utah — The town of Stockton in Tooele County has seen its water treatment facility flood three years in a row. This year, city officials hope they’ve protected it.
Emergency managers say Tooele typically experiences flooding a few weeks after the Salt Lake Valley does.
Massive rock berms now protect three sides of the Stockton water treatment plant at the base of Soldier Canyon according to Tooele County Emergency Manager Bucky Whitehouse.
Last year’s Jacob City fire stripped the area of a lot of vegetation.
Furthermore, Whitehouse said Tooele City is taking precautions, making sure flood channels designed to handle spillover from reservoirs stay clear.
