ALPINE, Utah — A part-time teacher at Sunshine Academy in Alpine and his younger brother delivered hand-painted flower pots, with plants inside, to people at River Meadows Senior Living.

Max Millar is 17 years old and works as an Early Childhood Education teacher at the academy. He had his students help paint plant pots for grandmothers at the living center.

In a release to KSL NewsRadio, he said it was amazing to see the student’s creativity and imagination during the painting process.

Millar also said during delivering the unique pots and plants to grandmothers, it was heartwarming how excited they were to see a young man like himself leading such a project.

“George was a big hit with the grandmothers, of course. They all thought he was adorable and loved how he helped deliver the pots,” Millar said talking about his younger brother.

Millar highlights the importance of having young men working in early childhood education.

“I think it’s important for young men to be involved in early childhood education because it provides positive male role models for children,” he said. “I hope that my involvement in this service project inspires other young men to get involved in working at daycares, too. There is so much good that we can do.”
